With native plants, storm water management, changing ordinances and sustainable practices now mainstream, this conference will broaden your knowledge and your sales approach for landscapes and habitats of the future.

8:15 – 9:00 Registration and continental breakfast
9:00 – 9:30 Clem Hamilton, CEO and President of The Holden Arboretum will touch upon the Latest Developments of Holden’s New Leaf Master Plan.
9:30 – 10:15 Connor Stedman, Permaculture Principles. Stedman is a lead organizer of the internationally recognized Carbon Farming Course and offers consulting and design for multi-productive forest management at AppleSeed Permaculture, including silvopasture, forest understory crops, productive buffers, and wildlife habitat.

10:25 – 11:15 Conner Stedman, Permaculture Design and Q&A.
11:15 -12:00 Roger Gettig, Director of Horticulture & Conservation, The Holden Arboretum. Combining Horticulture and Conservation. A discussion of the newly installed and monitored bio-retention cells, their design, construction, and plant selection. Roger will also discuss Holden’s newest stream restoration project.

1:45 – 2:25 Carol Palansky, Nature’s Way Inc. Runoff/Storm Water Management: Design of Water Conservation. Site study and understanding, how water can be filtered or conserved, and how to put in place with results.

2:35 – 3:15 Mary Ann Wagner, Butterfly Enthusiast and Educator The Monarch Butterfly Crisis. Learn about this important pollinator, current updates, and what we can do to help by creating habitat for the monarch’s survival.
3:15 – 4:00 Bob Kehres, Ohio Prairie Nursery Exploring the Prairie: Successful
Native Grassland Plantings. Key steps to successful planting and management strategies.
APLD CEU’s – 4 credits are offered for this conference.
The Holden Arboretum and APLDOH will be hosting the 2nd annual sustainability workshop at Holden. The topics will be designing with sustainability, making money with the future of storm water management, the Monarch Butterfly situation, and planting prairies – WOW this is a lot all in one day!
